End of the School Year

Well, another school year has come and gone and these girls just keep getting bigger and prettier! ;)

Madison had a wonderful 4th grade year. So much better than her 3rd grade year. Her teacher, Mrs. Lancaster, was such an inspiration to her. She brought out the best in Madison. Fighting to make sure that she did the very best she could in school and teaching her that just getting by was not enough. She finished the year with an A in Reading and that is a HUGE accomplishment for her. We are so proud of everything she's done this year. From cheer-leading to school work to just growing into the beautiful girl that she is now.

Emily's year was a little more complicated. First grade was a little rough because she started out with an okay teacher. This teacher always looked overwhelmed and seemed very scatterbrained but Emily loved her so we were fine with it. Emily also started out at below level reading so there was some concern about that. Mid-way through the year, her teacher just left. The classroom was a wreck. The kids were undisciplined. And Emily was still way below the reading level. There was a succession of substitute teachers that came her way but during this very critical time in her learning, we were hoping for a more permanent situation. Luckily, someone stepped in and she had a legit teacher the last couple of months. Her reading level went from a D to an I (which is a HUGE leap and such a big deal and also a good thing if you didn't know). She went from feeling like she would never know how to read to now reading chapter books.

Both of the girls had a very successful year but they are so happy summer is here. They are excited to go to Lubbock and see their cousins and aunts and uncles and most certainly their grandmas and to wake up late every day and swim every day.

2012-2013 school year is DONE!
