New this month:
Moving every which wayIt's hard to believe that just a few months ago your toddler was, well, toddling about, carefully testing her newfound walking skills. Now she's 2-year's-old — happy birthday to her and congratulations to you for getting her to this point happy and healthy. It's been a banner year for physical development. Chances are your child can now run, walk on her tiptoes, avoid obstacles that block her path, sit and stand quickly, and walk backward and sideways. As long as she can reach the pedals, she may even be coordinated and strong enough to pedal a tricycle, and she can probably toss a ball into a container with a large opening, like a laundry or garbage basket. Take a moment this month to notice all these things and celebrate how far your toddler has come. In many ways, she's no longer a toddler anymore, and if the term seems off to you, consider calling her your "preschooler."
